Once upon a sunny Florida day, back in 2000, we-Stuart and Jennifer-stepped into homeownership with our very first short-term rental. Excited yet soon bumping into the usual headaches: delayed repairs, poor communication, and all the frustrations that came with trusting someone else to care for our investment. We weren't alone-many fellow homeowners shared the same stories. That's when Stuart decided to launch a website to connect with other owners and learn how to do things right.
By March 2004, inspired and encouraged by the homeowners we met, we took the plunge and created Florida Ideal Management Company. In less than a year, we stewarded over forty homes-each one managed with honest prices, swift responsiveness, and real care. No fancy ads, just word-of-mouth and a growing reputation for reliability.
As time rolled on, we realized we didn't want to stretch ourselves too thin. About eight years ago, we made a conscious decision: fewer homes, better care. We scaled back to around 30 properties so we could stay close-literally and personally. After all, Stuart lives in Florida year-round and isn't tied to a visa, so disappearing overnight simply isn't on the table. We're here, we're committed, and we love what we do.
Our family team grew right along with our vision. Today, Stuart handles maintenance and guest care with hands-on dedication-often resolving issues the very same day, and even within the hour if it's urgent. Jennifer takes the lead on cleaning, ensuring each home sparkles from top to bottom. And behind the scenes, Pattie (Stuart's mum) keeps the office humming smoothly, whether she's in Florida or hopping on a video call from the UK.
What makes our story special isn't just what we do-it's how we do it. From day one, we've answered calls 24/7, with real voices-not machines. We text, WhatsApp, and call to keep everyone informed and involved. We even built an Owner's Portal where you can log in anytime to schedule visits, inspections, or cleanings-it's transparency with simplicity.
We've walked in your shoes, and we know that things don't always go perfectly. That's why we believe it's not the problem itself, but how you handle it that counts.
